Platypus Demolition Works

The Harbour Trust has commenced demolition of the 3-storey office building on the Platypus Site. Works will take approximately three months to complete with measures taken to minimise noise and any other impacts on the environment.

The removal of this building will allow for the creation of new landscaped open space and improved views to and from the site, as identified in the Platypus Management Plan.

The Sydney Harbour Federation Trust is recruiting an additional member for its Community Advisory Committee for the Platypus site at 118 High St, North Sydney.

The Platypus CAC provides advice on community-related matters and helps to transform the site into of the finest urban parkland and public domain in the world.

The Harbour Trust is seeking the additional member to ensure community representation from all areas surrounding the site, and as such the applicant is required to live within the suburb of Neutral Bay or Kurraba Point.

Applications close 5pm, Wednesday 12 July.

Platypus’ Future – Have Your Say by 17 June 2016

The Harbour Trust has decontaminated the former HMAS Platypus naval base on Neutral Bay and aims to revitalise the site as a foreshore urban park.

The Harbour Trust is preparing a Management Plan for Platypus to guide its revitalisation. Public comment is being invited to inform the preparation of the Management Plan. Once prepared, the draft plan will be placed on public exhibition for further community comment.

Following the high level of community engagement at the Planning Open Day on 14 May 2016, the invitation for public comments has been re-opened, and comments will now be accepted until 17 June 2016. Comments provided by that date will be considered by the Harbour Trust in its preparation of a draft Management Plan for Platypus.
