The Harbour Trust’s vision is to create a landmark cultural location for the people of Sydney. The revitalisation of Platypus will open up the fascinating spaces of this former industrial site and integrate it with the neighbourhood.
The cluster of former workshops being retained will be adapted to suit a diverse range of recreational, community, and commercial activities including events, exhibitions, visitor accommodation, education and training, restaurants and cafes, art spaces and business tenancies. These uses will be complemented by the delivery of public domain designed to activate and integrate Platypus Precinct, including a direct walkway to nearby Kesterton Park and North Sydney Ferry Wharf.
The Harbour Trust is conducting a two-stage process with an initial Call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) stage followed by a more detailed Requests for Proposals (RFP) process. The Harbour Trust intends to select short-listed applicants from the submissions received in the EOI stage. Short-listed applicants will be invited to tender under the RFP process.
