Closed to the public for 150 years, this distinctive inner-harbour site is now being revitalised as Sydney’s newest waterfront urban park, for everyone to discover and enjoy.

HISTORY

Its unique industrial and naval heritage is reflected in the fascinating remnant workshops at Sub Base Platypus. This site was originally a gasworks, then a torpedo production and maintenance facility, and the HMAS Platypus submarine base.

PLATYPUS RENEWAL PROJECT

The Platypus Renewal Project will see significant outcomes from the Platypus Management Plan vision realised, with funds dedicated to the creation of new public domain and pedestrian access improvements.
